Abstract
Chemical methods, apparatus, and counting techniques for the determination of radium‐226 by an emanation method have been described by Rushing, Garcia, and Clark in a previous paper. Because of the general scope of that paper, data were not presented on the determination of radium‐226 in water. The objectives of this paper were to present data on the recovery of radium‐226 from a variety of water samples and to discuss problems related to the preservation of samples during the period between collection and analysis. The method has been included as a tentative method for radium‐226 in the twelfth edition of Standard Methods.
