Abstract
The various noise sources in a high‐density magneto‐optic readout system are evaluated. It is shown that shot noise is not severe even at interrogation rates of 107 bit/sec and bit areas of 10−6 cm2. Various techniques used to reduce the noise originating from surface imperfections are described and their effectiveness demonstrated by experimental results. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
