Abstract
The authors show that using a phaselocked loop, stable optical pulses can be generated from a monolithic, passively modelocked semiconductor laser. A phase noise of −100 dBc/Hz at 46 GHz and a pulse width of 1.3 ps are achieved, and the limits of the pulse stability using this approach are discussed. Keywords
