Electrochemical Behavior of Fluorinated Fullerenes C 60 F x and C 70 F x

Abstract
Electrochemical properties of and have been studied by cyclic voltammetry (CV) in containing 0.1 M tetrabutylammonium hexafluorophosphate . The electrochemical reductions of are reported for the first time. The reduction potential of is more positive than that of by 1.57 V. The differences in electrochemical properties between and are parallel to the differences between and . Based on the relationship between the reduction potential and electron affinity (E a), the E a of is estimated to be ca. 4.42 eV, which is 1.76 eV larger than that of .
