Development of Intracranial Saccular Aneurysms

Abstract
The authors report two patients with an aneurysm of the carotid siphon who underwent cervical carotid artery ligation. After many years these patients showed evidence of an aneurysm of the contralateral intracranial internal carotid artery. Possible congenital, arteriosclerotic, and mechanical factors causing aneurysm enlargement are discussed.
