Suitable targets for the production of a deuterium plasma cloud in a vacuum environment with a laser pulse

Abstract
A device is described for the production and injection of small deuterium specks (volume similar 10−5 cm3) into a vacuum region, where they are ionized by a giant pulse delivered by a Q-switched neodynium laser. The specks are injected in such a way that a reasonably high percentage of them cross the laser focal spot region. The performance of the device is reported.
