Abstract
Fibrous adsorbents have an advantage of fast adsorption rate and easiness of handling when compared with granular adsorbents and powdered adsorbents. Application of newly commercialized activated carbon fiber in the field of water treatment and development of fiber supported zirconium oxide adsorbent for phosphate removal are introduced. For designing fiber adsorbent beds, axial dispersion in the bed becomes an important factor in determining a breakthrough behavior of the bed. Estimation method for axial dispersion coefficient in fiber beds is given on the basis of isotherm relations and bed properties.
