Development of Solutions for Level-Basin Design

Abstract
The procedures are examined for obtaining reasonable estimates of distribution uniformities for a wide variety of flow rates, length of run, infiltration characteristics, and flow resistance for the design and management of level basins. The dimensionless solution of advance and recession in level basins was extended to show the distribution uniformities for a wide variety of conditions. This was then transformed into two representations of distribution uniformity that are more useful for designing and managing level basins. One solution displays the effects of soil moisture deficit and the necessary infiltration opportunity time on distribution uniformity. The other displays the effects of field length and flow rate on distribution uniformity.
