Abstract
Litter treatments by hand of 4% malathion dust applied at 0.5, 0.25, 0.2 and 0.1 lb. to 20 square feet gave excellent initial control of Menacanthus stramineus on White Rock and New Hampshire chickens. The 0.5 and 0.25 lb. treatments controlled lice for at least 5 weeks. In addition to the insecticidal studies, tests were carried out to determine the effect of 4% malathion dust on hatchability and to determine if malathion residue on eggs could contaminate the interior. No effect on hatchability was found and no malathion residues were detected in the samples submitted. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
