Abstract
1) Alginic acid decomposing bacteria were isolated from the decaying blades of Laminaria, which were identified as a species belonging to genus Vibrio. 2) Morphological and physiological properties of the bacteria were described. 3) The organism, when grown on the blade of Laminaria, excretes an active enzyme, capable of degrading the blade almost completely. Keywords
