Abstract
The chlorine-photosensitized oxidation of trichloroethylene in the gas phase has been investigated at 363 and 403°K. Dichloroacetyl chloride is the main reaction product and its rate of formation is given by d[C2HCl3O]/dt=Ia[O2]/(k+k′[O2]). These results can be interpreted by the mechanism of the photochlorination with the following additional steps: [graphic omitted] Rate constants have been estimated. Keywords
