Planned Transdisciplinary Approaches: Renewable Resources and the Natural Environment, Particularly Fisheries

Abstract
Ecologies who have long sought a larger role for their science and insights in the decision-making process now find that possibility open to them. But the recognition is dawning that traditional ecological concepts and methods arc seldom directly relevant to major problems with renewable resources and the natural environment. What is proposed as a partial framework for a more comprehensive, planned transdisciplinary approach is elaborated in some detail. Current issues with Canadian fisheries are used to relate the concepts to practical concerns.
