Abstract
34 speech defectives were matched for intelligence, age, grade, and sex with normal controls. 66 other speech defectives were not matched. The Virgil Anderson test for auditory memory span was given, with some modification, and by means of phonograph records. Results were as follows: Vowels are more satisfactory than consonants for this test. Auditory memory span is longer for speech defectives than normals on vowels, and shorter on consonants. Auditory memory span is higher for vowels in articulatory defectives than for stutterers. Auditory memory span is not correlated with age or intelligence. Boys have slightly longer spans than girls. Auditory acuity seemed to have no special relationship to the test. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
