Abstract
A drummer (Family Kyphosidae) collected at Little Barrier Island, Hauraki Gulf (36°10’ S, 175°06’ E), is a new record for New Zealand. The herbivorous Kyphosus vaigiensis (Quoy & Gaimard, 1825) is widespread in the tropical Indo‐Pacific, and is the third species of its genus to be recorded from New Zealand waters. Keywords
