The Utilization of Staff Member Intelligence and Experience Under High and Low Stress.

Abstract
An investigation on determinants of effective staff work showed that stress in the relationship between the staff officer and the superior constitutes an important moderator variable. When stress with boss was high, experience correlated positively but intelligence correlated negatively with performance evaluations. Intelligence was uncorrelated with performance when the individual reported relatively low stress with his boss.
