Abstract
A gauge for the measurement of the level of a liquid in a remote storage tank is described. The measurement is made by the method of optical radar; the range is shown to be greater than 5 m with a resolution of 10m3 m throughout the range. The design, performance and limitations of the system are discussed with a view to a practical working system. Keywords
