Abstract
Family therapy, unlike many fleeting therapeutic fads, has flourished in established mental health circles for the past 25 years. This paper examines the socio-historical sources of family therapy's popularity, and considers the growth and development of this contemporary American therapeutic phenomenon from a sociological perspective.Keywords
