Abstract
A catalogue of WR stars coincident with H II regions is presented. Approximately 44 per cent of the WR stars surveyed are found to be ‘possibly’ associated with nebulosity while the association is considered to be ‘probable’ for 25 per cent of the cases. Although the absorption derived from the WR stars is comparable to that from the OB stars in H II regions, the WR distance moduli are about one magnitude larger than those derived from the OB stars. An average decrease of 0.8 mag in the absolute magnitudes of galactic WR is indicated in apparent disagreement with the luminosities derived from WR stars in the Large Magellanic Cloud. A list of WR stars in open clusters is also given.
