Abstract
Bimetallic alkoxides of Be and Al with the general formulae Be [Al (OR)4]2 (where R = Me, Et, Prn, Bun, Bu1, Bus and Ami) or Be [Al(OPri) (OR') 3]2 (where R' = But or Amt), have been synthesised by alcoholysis reactions of Be[Al(OPri)4]2. With the exception of Be[Al (OMe)4]2 and Be[Al (OEt)4]2, all these products are volatile under reduced pressure, soluble in common organic solvents and monomeric in refluxing benzene. All these products are highly susceptible to hydrolysis even by atmospheric moisture. The new compounds have been characterized by elemental analysis, ir and pmr spectra. Keywords
