Abstract
The distribution of electrophoretic patterns of pancreatic amylase (Amy) in 319 Sardinians and in 476 blood donors living in Naples were studied. The results obtained show a difference in the phenotype frequency of the Amy2 duplication variant between Sardinians (1.25%) and Neapolitans (5.25%) which is statistically significant (P < 0.01). This further confirms that Sardinians show peculiar ethnic chracteristics as compared to other Caucasian groups, even to those living in the Mediterranean area. Keywords
