Abstract
The bond orders of the resonance theory are shown to be identical with certain molecular orbital quantities which are similar to the usual MO bond orders. This equivalence, related to similar results of Dewar and Longuet-Higgins, suggests that the two theories, also in their simplified forms, are not so widely different as it is sometimes supposed. Keywords
