Abstract
Polarographic data are presented on 37 compds. of the stilbene and stilbestrol series. Although certain of the stilbene derivs. possessed carcinogenic potency, no differentiation could be made between these compds. and related non-carcinogenic stilbenes. Stilbene derivatives of the types, alpha-alkyl, alpha-aryl, or alpha-alkyl-beta-aryl, are reducible at the dropping Hg electrode. Derivatives of the type alpha beta-dialkyl are not reducible. Alpha beta-Dialkylstilbestrols and dienestrol are not reducible. The highly negative half-wave potentials of stilbene derivatives make the use of polaro-graphic methods difficult for the detection and estimation of these substances in biologic materials. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
