Abstract
The electron microscope image contrast of double loops in quenched aluminium is investigated experimentally and theoretically for different diffraction conditions. The contrast observed experimentally is in excellent agreement with that calculated assuming a double fault model for the loops. The simple visibility criteria for partials are found to need modification when considering the inner triangle of the double loop. Keywords
