Abstract
Silicon(IV) derivatives of the types, Si(OAc)2(SB) and Si (SB)2, (where SB− = anion of the corresponding Schiff base, SBH2) have been synthesized by the reactions of silicon tetraacetate with bifunctional tridentate Schiff bases, o-HOC6H4C(CH3):NXOH and 2-HOC10H6CH:NXOH [where X = -CH2CH2CH2-, -C(CH3)2CH2-and -CH(C2H5)CH2-] in high yield and in a state of high purity. These are found to be monomeric in boiling benzene and their infrared spectra are recorded. Keywords
