Abstract
Geochemical exploration for copper, nickel, and zinc was carried out in the Longwood Range, Southland. The thick vegetation and lack of outcrops make other forms of exploration difficult. Anomalies found in the creeks draining the range were followed up with more detailed stream sampling (water and sediment) and soil sampling. Although no mineralisation was located, several chemical anomalies were found in the soil, and the method shows considerable promise for further exploration in the area.
