Abstract
This chapter examines the factors that are contributing to the sudden upsurge of interest in organisational learning. It looks a learning organisation is, and highlights the importance of learning through critical questioning. Organisational learning is concerned both with how to manage multidimensional change and with the learning opportunities that such changes create. Part of the pressure to improve organisational learning comes from individuals and groups having to work within ever-reduced time frames. In a world economy, enterprises are having to do things faster in order to access emerging markets and to become competent in new areas. The combined effect of factors like the is creating enormous pressure to improve organisational performance and learning. One major obstacle to doing this is that organisational learning is related to many different aspects of enterprise functioning, including information management, skill formation, culture, history, job security, work organisation, and technological systems.Keywords
