Abstract
Two probabilistic models for the reproduction of phage in a bacterium are presented. A birth-death process with time-dependent parameters provides the basis of the calculation. It is found that the parameters can be chosen so that these models predict constant replication and coating rates, in accordance with experimental observation. In one formulation it has been possible to determine the distribution of Tr, the time until the rth phage is coated. Finally, slight modifications are made to include the phenomenon of eclipse. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
