Abstract
Female Panorpa responded olfactorily to conspecific males which have everted their genital pouches (i.e., “callings”). Females showed no olfactory response to males whose genital pouch was covered or to non-calling sexually inactive males. Males did not respond olfactorily to “calling” males, to receptive females, or to copulating pairs. Females responded olfactorily to copulating pairs. The pheromone (s) was attractive at distances up to 8 m.
