Abstract
The role of the adrenal steroid hormones and the thyroid hormones in the regulation of rat kidney transamidinase has been investigated. Adrenalectomy or thy-roidectomy had no apparent effect on the enzyme. Kidneys from rats that had received excessive doses of thyroid or adrenal steroid hormones had low kidney transamidinase activities. There was a good correlation between the low transamidinase activities and the high levels of creatine in the blood and kidneys of the cortisol and triiodo-thyronine injected rats. It is suggested that increased creatine levels may be responsible for the low transamidinase activities found in rats given large doses of adrenal steroid or thyroid hormones. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
