Statics of Random Beams

Abstract
Fundamental descriptions of the statics of linear random beams, i.e., linear beams having at least one random characteristic, material or loading are derived. A variety of well-known deterministic expressions for concentrated loads and moments for different support conditions are shown to possess an underlying polynomial-type random model. Techniques are devised for their treatment, and the results are expressed in terms of operational transforms. Their use is illustrated in obtaining the probability function for moment in the examples considered. For expositional clarity, the analysis is limited to mutually independent random variables. Generalizations are easy to conceptualize but expressions become cumbersome.
