Abstract
Three patients with phlegmasia caerulea dolens treated successfully by low-dose intra-arterial thrombolysis are presented. In all patients a rapid improvement was observed and amputation avoided. The risk of pulmonary embolus was reduced by the use of a retrievable vena cava filter in one patient and thrombolytic therapy in the presence of a previously inserted cava filter in the other two. Keywords
