Abstract
At eleven clinics uniform methods of measuring disease activity (duration of morning stiffness, grip strength, number of active joints, erythrocyte sedimentation rate) produced two sets of tables: (1) interpatient single‐examination differences (499 patients); (2) changes in one week (411 patients with unchanged therapy). The second set of tables provides inter alia standards for screening new drugs and a method of correcting for initial disease severity in controlled trials. Keywords
