Abstract
We present the results of a near-infrared (NIR) survey of 13 areas containing 16 GGD objects. A total of 12 infrared sources have been detected in five of the surveyed fields; six of them are new detections. An IRAS point source is present in all the areas where we have positive detections. The infrared colours J–H, H–K and K–L indicate that eight sources probably belong to the class of the pre-main sequence (PMS) objects; six sources seem to be variable in one or more infrared bands. Some of these sources are the illuminating stars of the GGD nebulosities. The observations presented here increase substantially the percentage of GGD nebulosities observed at NIR wavelengths (up to 80 per cent) although still in many cases their illuminating sources remain unknown. Keywords
