Abstract
The analysis of energetic compounds is often complicated by their low volatility and low thermal stability. A potentially useful technique for such analyses is high speed liquid chromatography since it does not require sample heating or vaporization. The use of the method is illustrated using synthetic mixtures of components found in explosive formulations. Separations involving nitrate esters, nitroaromatic compounds and nitramines are discussed. The use of the technique for the analysis of single and double base propellants is also presented.
