Abstract
An electrolytic cell, developed for electrorefining Ti, produced premium- grade metal from very impure Kroll sponge at a processing cost of < 60/lb. A cathode current density of 1000 amp/ft/sup 2/ and a molten NaCl electrolyte containing -5 wt.% of soluble Ti were used, and the current efficiency averaged slightly less than 60%. (D.L.C.)Keywords
