Abstract
Aflatoxins were not produced when A. parasiticus was cultured on medium containing peptone plus mineral salts. Transferring the microorganism to a glucose‐containing medium resulted in aflatoxin production. Initiation of aflatoxin synthesis could be blocked by treatment with cycloheximide or actinomycin D. It appears that glucose or a product of its metabolism, acting at the transcriptional level induces one or more of the enzymes responsible for aflatoxin synthesis. This publication has 17 references indexed in Scilit:
