Abstract
Somatic chromosomes of 97 species and varieties from 15 genera in the Oncidium alliance (Orchidaceae) were counted. Among this group were 40 hybrids. Chromosome numbers of 10 species and 18 hybrids not previously counted were added to those already known. The basic chromosome numbers in the Oncidium alliance are 5 and 7. Most of the hybrids studied had chromosome numbers that were the sum of their parents. Karyotype analysis is difficult in this group because of the small size of the chromosomes. Generally only the centromere, and in some instances satellites can be seen. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
