Abstract
The factorization of 2 × 2 Wiener–Hopf matrices is discussed. Explicit factors are found for matrices for which a commutative decomposition is possible. In addition, the factors of various matrices whose splitting matrices do not commute are determined explicitly. The structure of the decomposition of the general matrices is accomplished; the entries in the factors depend upon the solution of a pair of uncoupled scalar equations.Keywords
