Abstract
The theory of diffusion and nucleation of Brown, Kelly and Mayer(2) is extended to the case of thin foils by expressing all the quantities involved as Fourier series. The method is then applied to the situation encountered during in situ electron irradiation experiments in high voltage electron microscopes. The results show how measurements of loop densities may be corrected for the effects of the surfaces and suggest areas for further experimental observations. Keywords
