Abstract
A Synchronous Oscillator (SO) is a synchronization and tracking network which synchronizes, tracks, filters, amplifies and divides (if necessary) in a single process. It has very good noise rejection properties while maintaining wide tracking range. It acquires very fast in burst mode operation. Various carrier recovery techniques are introduced which use SOs in feedforward and feedback configurations. Also, a preamble carrier recovery technique is introduced. It uses a Coherent Phase-Locked Synchronous Oscillator (CPSO). A CPSO is the only existing network which has absolute coherency (zero phase error) throughout its tracking range with first degree loop and its noise bandwidth is independent of its tracking range. Keywords
