Abstract
Through analysis of the bremsstrahlung spectrum of barium the authors have found the energy of the 4f1 level to be 9.8 eV. This result is in good agreement with the value that can be extracted from a combination of electron energy loss and appearance potential data, provided that a satellite structure observed in the energy loss spectrum can be interpreted as a 3d104f1 to 3d94f2 transition. Keywords
