Abstract
Van Kampen's method of treating the singularity which occurs in the solution of Boltzmann's equation for plasma oscillations is applied to the corresponding problem in the presence of a uniform external magnetic field. The propagation of electromagnetic waves in the direction of the field is considered in this paper. Expressions for the refractive index and damping of the waves have been obtained which show striking departures from the Appleton-Hartree electromagneto-ionic theory near the cyclotron resonance frequency. Keywords
