Abstract
In this presentation I have attempted to provide a sufficiently detailed perspective of current thoughts regarding the formation of renal calculi and an approach to the clinical evaluation of calculous patients to permit selection of the most appropriate available treatment. The subject matter is clinically oriented and perhaps naive but has proved useful to me in the evaluation and treatment of calculous patients. Much remains to be learned about urinary tract calculi but, hopefully, the format chosen for this article will make more doctors realize that much can be done to ease the lot of patients afflicted with this malady. Keywords
