Abstract
A method to estimate the 3 parameters of Monod''s bacterial growth model, .mu.0 [maximum specific growth rate], Ks [substrate concentration at 0.5 .mu.0] and Y [growth yield], by linearization and integration of data from batch culture experiments is reported. This method can be used with substrate or biomass data. The technique was tested on literature and laboratory data. The accuracy of the values obtained for the parameters was ascertained by using them as initial estimates of a nonlinear fitting procedure. In some cases, the method can provide fairly precise estimates for the 3 parameters.
