Abstract
WITH the ever increasing sophistication in cardiac surgery previously lethal injuries of the heart can now be repaired. We are reporting the successful management of a complex penetrating wound of the heart.Case ReportA 41-year-old man was admitted to the hospital in shock 1/2 hour after he was stabbed in the left 3d interspace. Two pericardiocenteses were without any yield. After 1000 ml of whole-blood infusion the arterial pressure stabilized at 140/40.
