Abstract
Faeces and raw milk from individual cows were examined for the presence of Campylobacter jejuni. After drawing milk, the lactoperoxidase system was inactivated by raising the pH to 7.5. The organism was isolated from 22% of 904 faecal samples and from 4.5% of 904 milk samples. From laboratory experiments it could be concluded that inactivation of the lactoperoxidase system resulted in a better isolation of C. jejuni from raw cows'' milk. Keywords
