Abstract
The VEBA high current, relativistic electron accelerator has been modified for free electron laser experiments by replacing a self-closing water output switch with a laser-triggered gas switch. Reliable switch operation has been achieved in single and two channel discharges with output waveforms closely matching computer simulation. Keywords
