Abstract
Comparative studies were made in Germany with strains of Apis cerana from different parts of the Indian subcontinent and from China. Flight activity of drones and queens of Apis cerana indica was observed in an isolated place; 8 queens mated, 3 of them on two flights. Successful mating flights were longer than those of A. mellifera (average 30·8 minutes). Keywords
