Abstract
The apparatus is a simplified version of one described earlier by Clowes and Ditchburn (1959). It does not stabilize the retinal image quite as accurately as the earlier apparatus but sufficiently well for almost all applications. It is more compact and uses many fewer optical components. It has a better light transmission, better image contrast and a wider angular field. Keywords
