Elastic and inelastic scattering of oxygen ions from nickel and germanium isotopes

Abstract
The elastic and inelastic cross sections for the scattering of O16,18 ions from targets of Ge72,74,76 and of O16 from Ni64 have been measured at a laboratory energy of 56 MeV. The angular distributions for the ground and first-excited (2+) levels have been analyzed simultaneously by a coupled-equations search routine, and optical potentials determined. It is shown that this method reduces the ambiguity in the potentials.
