Abstract
The elastic and inelastic cross sections for the scattering of ions from targets of and of from have been measured at a laboratory energy of 56 MeV. The angular distributions for the ground and first-excited () levels have been analyzed simultaneously by a coupled-equations search routine, and optical potentials determined. It is shown that this method reduces the ambiguity in the potentials.
